Anatomy of an excellent weekend w/ company

Thursday:

- Come back to New Orleans in full monsoon mode

- Do not unpack or clean room or in fact accomplish anything useful

- Welcome dear friend

- Beer in frosted mugs and comfort food at Liuzza's

Friday:

- Sleep in

- FINALLY check out New Orleans Museum of Art

- Drive around southern shore of Lake Pontchartrain, see UNO

- Lunch at Landry's

- Make awesomely retro strawberry pie

- Bayou Bougaloo, including pulled pork po boys with coleslaw from the purple truck

- Evening drift along Frenchman, finish at the Spotted Cat for some Jazz Vipers

Saturday:

- Sleep in

- Greek festival, including french fries with feta, mmm, and endearing teenagers doing traditional dancing

- Bayou Bougaloo redux

- Dinner at Mona's, nicest waitress ever

- Papa Grows Funk at Tipitina's, excellent show, endearing teenager with sax solo; also, LOVE the lead guitarist's seafoam-green Fender

- Same cab as last night!

Sunday:

- sleep in (does one suspect a theme here?)

- Cafe du Monde, OMG beignets and iced coffee are the best breakfast ever

- wander around Quarter, confirm own slightly bashful affection for Bourbon Street

- po boys at Johnny's

- Louisiana strawberry ice from Angelo Brocato's

- Leisurely packing, pizza and wine, listening to Erykah Badu and Galactic

Off to CA for a few weeks tomorrow; will probably write randomly.  It's nearly 8 and it's still light outside, so happy.  Enjoy summer, everyone!
