Squash frenzy

After a somewhat fraught period of time earlier this year involving two successive weeks of what I can only describe as an onslaught of squash from a CSA, I have finally recovered enough to take an interest in cucurbits again. Last night I made this zucchini bread (good - a little sweet - better this morning when the aromatics had become more prominent) and this soup (well, accidentally using very fishy shrimp stock instead of vegetable stock [label things in your freezer, y'all!] has rendered it a significant departure from the original; last night when it was still warm the overwhelming flavour was of shellfish.)

Doing real and valuable work figuring out application, focus, persistence, discipline, dedication; not easy, and not something I'll ever master, but it's satisfying to have some traction at last.
