- I always forget about the season in New Orleans that is a Plague of Vile Prickly Caterpillars. I got stung by one yesterday and OUCH.
- It overlaps some with the season when you begin to sweat profusely just biking to work, and at the end of the day (if you've spent any of it on a bicycle) you feel gritty and grimy and oddly content. (This season will last until, oh, September.)
- Sliced-up sweet potatoes roasted w/ sesame oil and sambal oelek, and then eaten with a drizzle of hoisin sauce = divine. Especially when paired w/ cold buckwheat noodles in a rice vinegary dressing w/ zucchini and broccoli.
- Yoga thought: I set myself up for failure. Yoga (life?) requires (deserves?) consistent, focused, joyful effort.
- You might think a brie-and-avocado omelette, topped with a creamy crawfish sauce, eaten with a biscuit and some bites of a friend's bananas foster french toast, would be too rich; you would be wrong.
- Sometimes (it's very hard) the way to win an interaction is to appear to lose. For instance, it would be delightful to be impertinent to an obdurately stupid and unhelpful person I have to deal with. But instead I will be polite and calm and peaceful and let her feel like she successfully chastised me for a mistake. That way we will all go home happy, with minimal strife.
