Anatomy of an excellent weekend

- Wake up Saturday morning in Segou, always a happy place to be
- See cool, if unnerving, dust storm in Segou (although alas not followed by rain)
- Consume new favourite salad at the Hotel Djoliba
- Have refreshing nap on way back to Bamako
- Learn of the existence of a previously unread Lee Childs mystery, and then have said book in one's own hands
- Go out to dinner at La Rose des Sables (review to follow)
- Have a drink at the Bar Pascha (blue plush in the Hotel Salam) and at Havana (new, in Badalabougou, evidently they have salsa lessons on Thursdays)
- Go to Hotel Wassulu, hopeful but not expecting anything, and...
- See Oumou Sangare sing! (more to follow)
- Spend Sunday in state of agreeable sloth, consuming almond croissants, finishing the Lee Childs, planning upcoming Senegal/Gambia escapade, and pretending that cheese and crackers + a mango actually constitute dinner
- Fall asleep with an open window, because it's finally raining!
