means I get to wake up** to birds making an agreeable fuss in the mango trees. I love the vestiges of ruralness in Bamako - since I live on the Route de Koulikoro, one of the main thoroughfares, they are few and far between.
* This is only possible when it has rained and brought the temperature down.
** By 'wake up' I mean 'scowl at alarm, hit snooze button, and put head under pillow.'
