Weekend notes

- Dinner w/ a dear friend's family at Domenica. Not as good as Cochon, but seeing them is always a treat.
- I think I should make an actual cooked breakfast (pancakes are my standby) every weekend. Something about not making an effort to be efficient is so delightful.
- First Madhur Jaffrey meh: mattar paneer. It's fine but not mindblowing.
- Halloween was great, frantic sewing and all.
- The Packers won, Favre lost, the Saints won. Trifecta of football joy!
- Early fall soothingness in a bowl:

Take 4 green chile sausages from Whole Foods. Cut them up. Cook in a bit of olive oil til brown. (This will take approximately forever but make sure you get a decent fond going.) Mince 5 cloves garlic, rinse and chop 1 head collard greens, rinse and chop 7 or so pencil-width carrots, cook ~ 1 cup white beans in water til almost soft. Take sausages out of pot and put in garlic. Stir for 1 minute and put in carrots. Cook for 5 minutes and then put in greens. When beginning to wilt, put in beans (and more water depending on how soupy you like it.) Stir to make sure fond is becoming incorporated into the broth. Just before you eat put sausage pieces back in so they can warm up. Eat with cornbread.

- Only 1 book left in the annual Aubrey/Maturin re-read. Sad.
- My car is a-slosh in books. Something about moving apparently makes me want to acquire EVEN MORE STUFF all while decrying the stuff I already have. Oh, illogic.
